Our 2016 Scholarship Gala: Recap and Thank You!
Sincere thanks to the many who made our Black Tie and Blue Jeans Gala such a fun evening. And it wasn't just fun; it was meaningful and beneficial to the many students who depend on our Scholarship Fund to attend WCGS. The Silent Auction was followed by some good-natured live auction bidding, directed by school dad and auctioneer-for-the-evening David Ochs.
We're thankful to report that $79,715 was received in auction sales and donations. Another $26,920 was pledged. The total monies raised from the Gala as of November 3 = $106,635. If you missed the opportunity to participate in the evening, you can still make a secure donation online >

The Gala included an exceptional catered buffet, highly enjoyable music from the gifted students in our Honors String Ensemble and Jazz Band, and a beautifully expressed message from 1998 WCGS graduate and current Board member Jeff Brooke. Jeff (Dean of Student Life at Wheaton Academy and Head Boys' and Girls' Soccer Coach) and wife Rachel are parents of four children, two of whom are school age and enrolled at WCGS.
He referenced the vivid memories of placing his faith in Christ in our WCGS Kindergarten, surrendering his future dreams to God in his fourth grade class, realizing in sixth grade that God had a unique plan for his life, and experiencing the significance of a difference-making coach and mentor in Jr. High.
Why do Jeff and Rachel send their children to WCGS? "I long for them to have the same opportunity I had as a youngster," Jeff explained.
He summarized the four key advantages to Wheaton Christian Grammar School as a place where parents can be confident their children will be taught Truth, and where they will
• be taught God's Word,
• have their gifts uncovered,
• learn to walk with a sovereign God, and
• see what mentoring is all about -- the multiplication of disciples.
It was challenging to hold an event like this on the same night as the first World Series game at Wrigley Field since 1945! Regardless, we had a good turnout and are so appreciative of the many who planned, contributed to, and supported this important event.
