The Daily Herald newspaper named our March 2009 groundbreaking as one of the year's top stories.  But the groundbreaking was just the beginning!  The first day of school at our new campus has been announced as Tuesday, August 24, 2010, and we are planning to be ready for a productive and meaningful start to the new school year.

The current Wheaton Christian Grammar School Capital Campaign is called Opening Doors. This campaign will allow Wheaton Christian Grammar School (WCGS) to construct new facilities to meet the needs of students and their families today and for the future. This new building will further our efforts at becoming the leading K-8 educational institution in the western suburbs of Chicago.

Why is the campaign necessary?

The WCGS campaign is critical for three primary reasons:

Our program has outgrown our facilities, and there is no room for expansion on the existing site.

The current buildings are outdated and consistently in need of repair.

A new facility will provide substantial enhancements to our educational programs, art and music programs and athletic facilities.

What makes WCGS so unique at this time?

Today's parents are often looking for a school which will reinforce their Christian beliefs and values. At WCGS, parents find a school willing and equipped to partner with them to nurture and prepare their children for the world outside their love and care. Our goal is to come alongside the parents and give children an academic and spiritual foundation based on a relationship with Christ and a strong biblical worldview.

What types of improvements will the new facilities provide?
Bldg in winter The new 90,000-square foot facility will be designed specifically for our academic programs to provide more teaching opportunities and enhance the learning experience of our students. The new facility will incorporate the following benefits:
  • Additional classrooms to accommodate three sections of students in all grades K-8.
  • Separate wing for upper grades.
  • Technologically-equipped classrooms, computer labs and learning center.
  • Acoustically-engineered auditorium/cafeteria for daily lunches, chapels, assemblies, and special student performances.
  • Acoustically-engineered music classrooms for instrumental and vocal classes.
  • 3,000 square-foot library and learning center.
  • 8,800 square-foot gymnasium.
  • Sufficient driveway access points and parking spaces to relieve traffic congestion at pickup and drop-off times.
  • Expanded field space to provide safe playgrounds for lower grades and multiple athletic fields for upper grades.
